Online Therapy for Grief, Divorce, and Life Transitions

Some seasons knock the ground out from under you: a loss, a divorce, an empty house, a job that ended. I offer online therapy for grief, divorce, and life transitions to adults in New York, Connecticut, and Utah, a steady place to make sense of the change and find your footing again.

A watercolor of changing waters, representing grief and life transitions therapy.

When Life Changes Faster Than You Can Keep Up

You do not have to be in crisis to deserve support. A lot of the people I work with are navigating a big transition and just need a thinking partner who is squarely on their side. That might be:

  • Grief after losing someone or something that mattered.

  • A divorce or the end of a long relationship.

  • An empty nest, when the house gets quiet and your role shifts.

  • A job loss, a career change, or retirement.

  • Any move, milestone, or ending that left you feeling unmoored.

  • Managing chronic illness.

These are not small things, and they do not have to be a diagnosis to be worth talking through.

 How I Help Through Transitions

Together we name what you have lost, even when the change looks like a gain on paper, and we make room for the messy feelings underneath. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to work with the thoughts that keep you stuck, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy skills to steady you through the hardest stretches. Mostly, you get a calm, practical space to figure out who you are on the other side of this.

Grief and Loss

Grief does not follow a schedule, and there is no right way to do it. Online grief counseling with me is a place to feel what you feel without anyone telling you to hurry up or move on. It is also not only about death. People come to me grieving:

  • A marriage or a long relationship.

  • A career or a diagnosis that changed everything.

  • The version of their life they expected to have.

When no one has died, it can feel like you have not earned the right to be this sad, so you carry it quietly and it gets heavier. Timing matters too. Support arrives early and fades right as the loss starts to feel real, so the hardest stretch often lands months later. Reaching out to a grief therapist then is not late. It is normal.

Divorce and Separation

Divorce reshapes almost everything at once:

  • Your routines change.

  • Your finances change.

  • The future you had pictured quietly stops being the future.

  • Friendships you counted on can rearrange themselves around the split.

Most of the people I see are carrying all of that while also making enormous decisions about money, housing, and children, at exactly the moment they feel least steady. Everyone around you will have an opinion, and very few of them are neutral. That is where therapy for divorce helps. It gives you one relationship that is not taking sides, a place to sort out what you actually want from what you are being told to want. Because divorce counseling with me happens online, you can do that from your own home rather than adding a commute to an already exhausting stretch of life.
