Online Trauma Therapy for Adults

Trauma has a way of staying with you long after the event is over. I offer online trauma therapy to adults in New York, Connecticut, and Utah, with a trauma-informed approach that puts your sense of safety first. We will not rush, and we will not force anything. We go at your pace.

You Might Recognize Some of This

Trauma does not always look like one obvious event. It can come from a single frightening moment or from years of something that wore you down. However it got here, you might notice:

  • Memories, images, or feelings that show up uninvited.

  • Trouble sleeping, or sleep that does not leave you rested.

  • Feeling on guard, jumpy, or braced for the next bad thing.

  • Avoiding people, places, or conversations that bring it back.

  • Feeling numb, disconnected, or like you are watching your own life from the outside.

  • Anger, shame, or guilt that does not match what actually happened.

If any of that sounds familiar, you are not broken and you are not overreacting. Your nervous system learned to protect you. We can teach it that the danger has passed.

How Online Trauma Therapy Works With Me

We start by building safety and trust. You set the pace, always. From there I use two practical, well-studied methods.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) helps you understand how trauma shaped your thoughts and reactions, and gives you ways to respond differently.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills, mindfulness, distress tolerance, and emotion regulation, help you stay grounded when hard feelings rise, instead of being swept away by them.

Doing this work online has a real advantage for trauma: you are in your own space, with your own comforts, and you are in control of the environment the whole time. For many people that makes it easier to open up.

PTSD Treatment, Online

If your trauma has turned into PTSD, you do not have to keep white-knuckling through it. Online PTSD treatment with me uses the same trauma-informed CBT and DBT approach, including DBT skills that are well suited to the intense waves PTSD can bring. We work on the flashbacks, the hypervigilance, the avoidance, and the exhaustion, one steady step at a time.

You do not need a formal diagnosis to start. You just need to be ready to feel a little better than you do right now.

Trauma and Addiction Often Travel Together

In my years working in treatment settings, I saw again and again how trauma and addiction feed each other. Substances can start as a way to quiet what trauma left behind. If both are part of your story, you do not have to choose which one to bring to therapy. We can hold both.

If addiction is the bigger piece right now, Addiction and Recovery page goes deeper there.
